About great-ayton.org.uk
Origin
This website was created out of a desire to publish Great Ayton Parish Council documents for the general public on the Internet. Prior to this site being created, many other options were considered, but most were felt to be too commercial.
The aims of the site have now grown beyond the simple publication of council documentation, and it is now hoped that this site can be a useful resource for any resident or visitor to Great Ayton. At its launch, in April 2006, the site contained limited information but it is hoped that with community input this will soon expand.
Accessibility
In the design of this site, effort has been made to make it accessible to people with visual or other disabilities. The following standards have been used.
Titles and section headings have been denoted with standard H1, H2, etc. tags.
Navigation menus have been created as HTML lists. This allows screen readers to read out the number of items in the menu at the start and for the user to skip the menu easily.
Images all have descriptive alt tag attributes
The text size is scalable with standard browser functions.
Cascading Style Sheets are used for the presentation of this site. If your browser does not support stylesheets or you choose not to use them the site will still be readable and clearly structured.
